November, 2016: St. Louis, Missouri – Each year, Streetscape Magazine honors a group of area professionals who are impacting positive change in the community, and serving as leaders in business. This year, Rackers and Fernandez Managing Partner Sergio Fernandez has been named to this elite group, and recently received a 2016 Beyond the Best in Business Award.
Recipients were recognized at a ceremony on November 7, 2016, with nearly 500 people in attendance. Past Beyond the Best winners, community leaders, and representatives from Streetscape Magazine were on hand for the event, which featured a keynote speech from Bev Randles, recent candidate for Missouri Lieutenant Governor.
“I am honored to join all of the professionals who have been named Beyond the Best in Business,” said Fernandez. “Our firm is dedicated to helping people in this community, whether it’s with their personal tax situation, with help in growing their businesses, or through service to the many worthy non-profits throughout the St. Louis region. We’re committed to making an impact, and I sincerely appreciate the recognition for the work we’ve done, and will continue to do.”
Fernandez joined Rackers and Fernandez in 1996, and assumed the leadership of the firm in 2000. He specializes in all areas of tax planning, research, strategic planning, and compliance for closely held corporations, partnerships and individuals. Fernandez is actively involved in a number of professional organizations, including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants. He also serves on several boards, including the John E. Simon School of Business Advisory Board for his alma mater, Maryville University.
In the community, Sergio is actively involved in his church (Immaculate Conception of Dardenne); a consultant to Delta Center, a former fundraising chair for Williams Syndrome Association, a former board member for Sharing Shed, a former member of Marathon Team OE for Opportunity Enterprises, an organization which promotes self-sufficiency and life choices for challenged individuals, and is a former Silver Spoke and Bronze Spoke fundraiser for the National MS Society.
